The Tarzan cartoon printsIt would be rare if a child had not heard of the famous Tarzan series. Tarzan posters and Tarzan prints both in comic and graphic forms are immensely popular with kids. The famous Tarzan posters are of the fictional character Tarzan. He was a fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The first Tarzan print could be seen in the novel Tarzan of the Apes which was a magazine publication 1912 and book publication 1914. It had twenty-three sequels. The story goes that Tarzan was the son of a British Lord and Lady. His parents were marooned on the West coast of Africa. His parents died when he was an infant. Tarzan was then raised by the Mangani or the Great Apes. They are a species unknown to science. His ape mother was named Kala and Tarzan meant White-skin which was his ape name. The English name of Tarzan was John Clayton, Lord Greystoke. When he grows in to an adult he meets Jane Porter. She is marooned on the African coast with her father and some team members. This was the same spot where Tarzans parents had been marooned years ago. But Jane does return to America and Tarzan goes in search of his true love and leaves the Jungle behind. In the later editions of Tarzan, Tarzan and Jane marry and live in England. They have one son named Jack. Jack is also given the ape name of Korak the Killer. After some years Tarzan and Jane return to Africa. The posters of Tarzan the Ape Man have been popular since then thought the quality and image have changed since then. Many collectors and Tarzan fans do have the old Tarzan Posters and the original Tarzan of the Apes poster. Tarzan had been made in to many movies also. The movie fared well like the cartoons and a new set of Tarzan Movie Posters became a trend. However even though the Tarzan movie print posters are different from the older posters they have been more popular due to world wide circulation. Apart from the comic series Tarzan has been a popular idol for radio shows, movies, theatre, video games and other non-print media. Tarzans Greatest Adventure poster's have been used on the cover of video games to gain more popularity. The character has been used without legal permission after its author's death. The popularity of this character has been there for almost a century now starting from 1912. There have been almost 88 Tarzan movies till date. The older movies were silent pictures adapted from the original Tarzan novel. A new genre of Tarzan movies emerged with sound and Johnny Weissmuller in the title role. This phase lasted from the 1930s through the 1960s. After Disney took over Tarzan movies production a new trend emerged in the Tarzan series. Even today Tarzan remains a popular cartoon and movie character for kids. There have been adaptations of this character too but none have proved to be as successful as Tarzan.  |
