Alfred Hitchcock is considered one of the greatest creators of terror and suspense in the history of motion pictures and stands as the premier inspiration for the creators of terror and horror movies today. Many of his films are considered classics and the constant stream of remakes still being done to this day give a good feel for just how influential and entertaining his movies were. One of the truly classic Hitchcock films ever made is the movie Psycho. Anthony Perkins built an entire career around his role as the psycho Norman Bates and nearly everyone that has ever seen a movie has seen the classic Psycho.

Even to this day Psycho movie posters are in high demand and that can mean a Psycho poster based on the original movie of any of the Psycho posters from the subsequent remakes. There has even been sequels made of the remakes and they have also prompted Psycho print for each remake and Anthony Perkins is usually involved in some way in the sequels. Psycho is a movie franchise that has gone on for years and Psycho prints from the original movie or any of the remakes or sequels are still popular to this day. Many people remember the Psycho movie poster that was deceivingly simple in its design with a beautiful blonde woman and a picture of Norman Bates. You had no idea what could possibly be going on in the story.

Later posters that featured a bloody shower curtain helped a little but these were used later. It is not surprising but Psycho has also spawned a series of movies that draw directly from its influence and some of them even take the Psycho name.

Christian Bale, now more famous for his current role in the revived Batman movie franchise, starred in a movie called American Psycho that went on to become very popular. The close ties to the original Psycho are very evident even in the American Psycho poster. The American Psycho movie poster features an image of a well dressed Christian Bale carrying, what else, a large shining knife. The knife in the American Psycho movie posters is an obvious tip of the hat to the original Psycho movie as Bale's character in American Psycho rarely uses a knife to kill his victims opting more for more gruesome methods.

But the creators of American Psycho wanted to show their appreciation for Hitchcock's influence and put knife in the American Psycho posters to allow people to make that direct correlation between the two.

Psycho was a terrifying movie and even today it stands as a classic of horror and suspense. It has influenced hundreds of filmmakers since its release and you can see its influence in thousands of movies. It scared people in 1960 and it can still terrify people today and that may explain why over 40 years later movie posters for the original Psycho are still selling very well and why they will probably be selling very well for many more years to come.
