Everyone Had Blues Brothers Posters
With a half a pack of smokes, a full tank of gas, and hundreds of miles to cover in one night the Blues Brothers found their way around in the dark with their sunglasses on and released one of the most popular movies of the 1980's. The Blues Brothers started off as a piece of sketch comedy on Saturday Night Live where Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi were working at the time. Their first performance on the show saw them wearing their trademark porkpie hats and sunglasses but they were wearing huge bumble bee costumes instead of their dark blue suits. From there they started doing regular performances on the show and someone decided that they had an actual band and they should start putting it out for the people to enjoy. So the Blues Brothers and their band started playing Los Angeles and New York City clubs to the delight of packed houses wherever they went. Then a large arena performance in Los Angeles lead to the release of their first album which was a live album. The album climbed the charts fast and had several radio hits on it that propelled the Blues Brothers to even more fame. Before the Blues Brothers a John Belushi poster or a Dan Aykroyd poster were not very popular. But right after the release of their album that album cover suddenly became a very popular Blues Brothers print and it was not long before you started to see Blues Brothers prints all over the place. As their success grew and the Blues Brothers print kept right on selling it was only a matter of time before a movie was made and released. In 1980 that is exactly what happened and the world was never the same again. Before the movie a Blues Brothers poster was the cover of the album they had released and it was selling like crazy. Blues Brothers posters were everywhere and you could either get the regular looking poster or you could get the poster that was touched with a little extra color just for effect. As soon as the movie came out that album cover poster was joined by the Blues Brothers movie poster as an extremely popular and fast selling item. Everyone wanted a Blues Brothers movie print and people were even asking for the poster that was featured within the movie itself that the Blues Brothers used to announce their show in the movie. It was all quite a vibrant scene and when the soundtrack to the Blues Brothers movie hit the charts as well it looked like nothing could stop the Blues Brothers. However something did stop them and it was a shame. In 1982 John Belushi died of a drug overdose and the Blues Brothers would never be the same. Dan Aykroyd tried to keep the Blues Brothers going and even recruited John Goodman to make a new Blues Brothers movie in 2000 but it was apparent right from the start that without Belushi the Blues Brothers were done. ![]() |
